Position: QC Clothing Technologist
Based in Durban (Extensive travel within SA)
Salary:
- Basic monthly salary: 25 000 to 27 000 ZAR / month
- Bonus: 2 times per year, with a base of 3000 US$ each, based on KPI with typical achievement of 70%, but potential up to 100%
- Company does not cover insurance / social benefits. Employee must pay his/her own.
- There are no offices, so this position can be seen as partially “home based” when not travelling.
- Actual travel expense for travels outside of Durban (usually Newcastle) – reasonably of course (no alcoholic beverages on dinner bills are covered etc.)
- Allowance limit of $10 (USD) PER factory visit (Around R125 per trip) for factory / client visits within Durban
- With the position being “home-based” , 10 leave days per year have been allcated as the employee will have much flexibility within his/her normal working week

My client is a global provider of quality control and compliance services that helps brands and retailers manage their supply chains. Every year, they deliver some 215 000 inspections, audits and lab tests. The company's' Operations team is a place where you can grow your technical and management skills – while helping them bring trust to global trade.
The Job:
Reporting to the Overseas Manager, you will lead a team of inspectors and verify that service of the highest quality is being delivered to clients.
You will be expected to:
• Manage network of inspectors throughout the region, including recruitment, and ensuring their optimal allocation;
• Improve Team performance by providing training, assessments, and creating performance tracking tools; • Calibrating Team on required Quality standards
• Perform a range of duties related to client claim management, supplier relations, budget control, and back office support;
• Perform Surprise Audits in Factories and In-Store
• Attend client meetings to support sales development, contribute technical expertise, and discover how best to improve our operational procedures;
• Maintain good working relationships with all suppliers, and in the factories we inspect.
The Candidate - Minimum Requirements:
*MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITHIN CLOTHING INDUSTRY*
• Candidate must be someone aged 30 – 35years, with the energy for travel, ability to work pro-actively (no supervision) and, of course, dedication (the lack of structure with a home-based position is always a worry with keeping people focused)
• Softline / Textile QC Experience and QC Management experience (3 – 5 years)
• Practical experience in quality management and Team management;
• A solid working knowledge of QC standards, both international and country-specific;
• A hands-on management style with excellent interpersonal skills;
• A strong work ethic of discretion and professionalism;
• Fluency in both spoken and written English;
• Readiness to frequently travel within the Country mainly and sometimes to nearby regions
