Job Purpose
To ensure effective standards of quality assurance through the effective execution of raw materials quality control and food safety. Manages Kosher and Halaal audits and ensures supplier quality assurance. The role enforces the allergen management PRP where applicable
Key Accountabilities And Outputs
Supplier Quality Assurance
- Manage the supplier database
- Ensure the Supplier Folders are always up to date
- Obsolete all old/expired certifications and documentation
- Update Supplier audit registers
- Ensure that Supplier audits have been tallied, findings have been closed out with corrective action
- Ensure that alll newly approved suppliers have completed all SQA documentation in full before uploading to the database
- Escalate any incomplete or missing documentation/information to the QC Supervisor/Quality Manager
- Ensure all the relevant documentation has been completed
- Ensure that COAs are received for every batch of raw material received
- Ensure and enforce adherence to the RMQC Sampling plan
- Ensure aspetic sampling techniques are practiced where ingredients are concerned
- Inspection and Analysis of raw materials in accordance with established SOPs
- Accurate capturing of results
- Enforce Good Laboratory Practices
- Ensure timeous calibration and daily verification of equipment used for raw material analysis
- Enforce proper housekeeping in the lab and raw materials receiving areas
- Ensure adherence to the source and treated water sampling plan
- Analysis of source and treated water samples in accordance with established SOPs
- Accurate capturing of results
- Escalation of any outages on any testing parameters to the QC Supervisor/Quality Manager
- Implementing rejection protocols for any raw materials that fails critical testing parameters
- Escalating Supplier NCs following the Supplier NC Procedure
- Completion of the Supplier NC Register
- Follow through for corrective action and close out of NCs
- Ensuring that Supplier NC records are completed in full and signed off by both parties
- Uploading of SNCs to the data base
- Ensuring that the supplier NC folders are always up to date
- Monitoring and Evaluating Supplier NC trends
- Updating the Quality Manager weekly on Supplier NCs
- Enforces Food Safety requirements with regards to raw material control
- Internal auditing - monthly GMP audits
- Ensure that all approved ingredients have an updated halaal and kosher certification
- Update and maintain a raw materials and final product list to be used for halaal and kosher certification
- Facilitate halaal and kosher certification inspections and audits with relevant religious bodies
- Timeous close out of any findings from audits
- Enforces the Allergen Management PRP
- Adherence to Standards: Ensure strict adherence to Quality, Food, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
- Enforcement: Enforce all food safety and health regulations, policies, and requirements at all times to guarantee a secure work environment.
- Personal Hygiene: Maintain exceptional personal hygiene as per the organizations code of conduct.
- Contamination Control: Raise awareness about potential physical product contamination and implement control measures to prevent it.
- Health and Safety Measures: Take reasonable precautions to prevent health and safety hazards. Follow the prescribed incident reporting procedure in case of accidents.
- Knowledge and Compliance: Stay updated with relevant business information, policies, processes, and procedures. Enforce compliance with legislative and statutory requirements, as well as GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Training: Attend and enforce the implementation of learnings from training sessions related to Quality, Food Safety, and Health and Safety.
- Housekeeping: Maintain high levels of cleanliness and orderliness within the work environment.
- Responsible to ensure housekeeping is performed and ensure that all products and activities are stored and are executed within the demarcated areas according to the housekeeping policy (green red and yellow areas)

- Grade 12 / Matric / MIN National Diploma in Food Technology/Analytical Chemistry or related field
- Upto 3 years experience (Operational Execution) FMCG
