Education and Experience
- Must have a Degree/ND Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification
- Must have Trade test preferably Tool Maker
- Minimum 3 -5 years' relevant work experience in the manufacturing environment
Skills, Attributes & Other requirements
- In-depth knowledge of applicable motor vehicle parts, their function, applicable specifications, part manufacturing processes and testing methods.
- Knowledge and application of Quality Tools. e.g. DOE, SPC FMEA, 8D Pro
- Must be computer literate (BeOn, Hyper KVS, & Microsoft office)
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to work independently.
- Evaluating and prioritizing in-plant part quality problems on Local and CKD parts.
- Conducting tests on parts with quality problems to identify the root cause of the problem.
- Producing written reports, highlighting quality problem and root cause to the local supplier or CKD supplier
- Determining acceptable standards for quality related problems and evaluate / approve alternative proposals.
- Evaluating and rating the Delivery Quality Performance of suppliers.
- Establishing and maintaining a sound communication channel with the local suppliers and CKD concerning part performances.
- Assisting with safety related investigations on single parts.
- Designing and building test equipment to test the performance of parts.
- Conducting test to confirm whether the new part submitted as First Samples meets specification requirements
- Conducting a 2-Day Production Run at the supplier.
- Evaluating the supplier's First Sample Report submission on a monthly basis.
- Answering queries concerning material and test specifications and specify or approve alternatives.
- Actively participate in the quality activities for new part introduction and give input to the qualifying program for new parts with respect to the quality requirements.
- Co-ordinate the securing of the Production Line in the event of line stoppages caused by part problems.
- Conducting Part Group Meetings for planning of corrective action on seriously problematic parts in order to determine and find suitable alternatives to maintain production.
- Verify and approve deviations and Engineering Change notes raised by other departments.
- Actively resolve top part problems as reported at the Quality Drive team meeting.
- Actively participate in or conduct a Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) for parts and processes.
- Assist Body Shop, Engine Plant, Final Assembly and Pilot Hall with complex investigations on single parts.
- Specify a rework method or procedure for parts being reworked
