G ibela Rail Transport Consortium invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Quality Engineer position. The position will report to the Project Quality and Safety Manager.
The successful candidate will be based in Randjespark, Midrand.
Mobility: The role will require travel to other Gibela sites (Depots).
Purpose of the job:
The Industrial Quality Engineer position is to ensure the compliance of products and parts delivered by the Gibela facilities.
Responsible to create procedures that ensure quality compliance in services, products, and parts to the customer.
Perform inspections, checks, tests, audits, training and sampling procedures according to the applicable instructions on products ready for delivery and on products during the operations process. Recording associated results, KPIs and NCRs.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain Industrial Quality scope in all Gibela Service Sites
- Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Create and update Quality related procedures, protocol, and checklists.
- Continuously collaborate with Industrial teams on all quality control and operational risks topics.
- Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate documentation of NCR/Findings and support teams to launch the expected reaction (QRQC/8D).
- Escalate the anomalies detected on Operations activities & ensure their effective treatment (QRQC/NCR tool).
- At first activity application, perform inspections and audit on processes of subassemblies or finished products at workstation according to well defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/ or electrical measurements and documentation. Contribute to site improvement actions and programs related to the IQ scope.
- Accept or Reject products as defined in the working instruction/self-inspection documentation.
- Ensure inspection results are recorded correctly on Industrial tools as required
- Control the correct calibration of critical equipment and instrumentation used in the inspections.
- Train and support Operational teams on Quality competencies (i.e. Self-inspection, problem solving (QRQC/8D), Quality animation, Workstation audits and QCP & PFMEA etc.)
- Ensure quality animation methodology, in line with APSYS requirements.
- Maintenance of APSYS Roadmap for Quality and ISO 9001 requirements
- Quality processes, procedures and records conformity
- Consistently with APSYS score and continuous improvement
- CFT & Quality Teams competency at required levels
- Dynamic QCP for all Service Sites
- Workstation audit planning for all Service Sites
- Reduction of defects & recurring issues by project & consolidated
- CONQ S1.1
- B-tech/BSc Eng Qualification in Quality Management, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Technical background enabling the understanding of critical characteristics of the products (electromechanical, electrical, material, mechanical) or equivalent.
- Experience in managing Quality tools and problem-solving tools.
- Good understanding and knowledge of railway industry norms, certifications etc.
- Awareness on Processes and Products delivered in the project.
- 3 years or more experience in Quality Management and in audits
- Knowledge of Quality standard (ISO9001, IRIS, CMMI) and quality tools
- Experience in operational activities and in documentation management
