Quality Manager at Shatterprufe [Corporate]

Shatterprufe is the leading manufacturer and distributor of OE Auto and aftermarket replacement glass products. The company manufactures genuine Shatterprufe laminated windscreens and Armourplate toughened automotive safety glass products. Three automotive glass plants manufacture over 4 million pieces of laminated and toughened glass a year for customers worldwide. Shatterprufe products are installed by Original Motor manufacturers in Southern Africa.

Main Job Purpose

Responsible for driving and instilling a culture of Quality across the business to support the SX drive to maintain existing and secure future business through quality excellence and sound customer relations.

Main Objective
  • Conceptualise and develop appropriate quality strategies and plans aligned to the vision and strategic objectives of the business in order to meet individual Plants Quality KPI's to ensure customer satisfaction and reduction of cost.
  • To ensure that all products meet the ever-increasing quality/Safety demands of the market and customer, thereby instilling a strong quality culture that becomes core to the business.
  • Drive alignment and standardisation across the business in relation to all quality standards, work practices and procedures so as to contribute to the overall growth of the business and to establish SX as a preferred business / product supplier within the market.
  • To ensure the Quality Managers at all sites are taking responsibility for the effective maintenance and compliance to the IATF16949 standard and ensure all SX Sites adhere to these implemented standards to ensure attainment certification.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the Corporate Quality Management System to ensure that it supports continuous improvement in all functions of the business.
  • To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures and that staff are developed and mentored through the talent management and IDP processes to drive capability in business.
  • Ensuring sites have clear improvement actions in meeting their quality KPI's and targets, to enhance the business' profitability, and to establish the business as a preferred glass provider within the industry (Credit Note reduction, OE PPM, Interplant intercepts reduction and FPA to 99.5%, etc).
  • Drive Quality Management Systems to ensure Shatterprufe products meet customer standards and expectations to ensure future growth and sustainability.
  • Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business.
  • Ensure performance monitoring on customer complaints, warranty claims and field failures is managed effectively, to ensure the risk is minimised both to customer and Organisation. The monitoring will include the following:
  • Monthly evaluation of Organisation's performance to warranty reduction targets established by Organisation's customers.
  • Poor quality cost monitoring (e.g. scraps and reworks due to internal failures, warranty, penalties, recall campaigns for external failures).
  • Initiating & driving problem solving and corrective action to prevent recurrence as an output of the monitoring/review process.
Qualification(s)

Critical job requirements:
  • Grade 12.
  • BTech in Quality Management or related qualification OR Technical Diploma.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of QMS (TS 16949; ISO 14001; Systems safety OHSACT 8000).
  • Knowledge of Product Safety Standards (ECER 43; CCC, SANS 1193, QSB; VDA 6; and Q1).
  • Knowledge of OEM customer specific requirements.
  • Sound technical knowledge relating to glass processing methods and processes.
  • Full office package at an intermediate level.

Experience
  • 10 years' experience within a similar role.
  • 7 years Management experience.
  • 10 years' experience within the automotive industry.
