Our business is growing rapidly, and with entering the South African market, we are seeking motivated versatile Financial Accountant who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty to help us build and grow our South African business. This role is ideal for someone not afraid to take on multiple responsibilities and work across various financial functions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in setting up our financial systems, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and providing strategic financial guidance to drive business growth. The Financial Accountant is the company's end-to-end accounting owner. Owns and leads all legal entity accounting, statutory obligations, and banking activities. Establishes and implements robust control processes. The role incorporates elements of financial analysis and thus offers exposure to commercial discussions and engagement with commercial multi-functional teams. A successful Financial Accountant is expected to adapt to the fast- paced culture of both the company, the market, and the customers we serve.
What does the job involve
- Establish and maintain financial policies, accounting and bookkeeping procedures, and controls processes according to local and Group accounting principles to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and manage financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow projections to support business growth and sustainability.
- Prepare the financial statements, monthly and ad hoc reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Perform month-end accounting procedures.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Assist in fundraising activities, including preparing financial models, presentations, and documentation for investors and stakeholders.
- Organize recruiting future finance and accounting staff in South Africa as the business grows.
- Manage tax planning strategies and ensure compliance with local regulations, including filing statutory returns and paying taxes.
- Stay updated with financial regulations and ensure compliance within the organization.
- Coordinate auditing activities to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- 3-5 years experience in a similar role in an international company.
- Higher education in finance, economics, or accounting. CA (SA), CPA or CFA qualifications would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of local South African Accounting Principles, statutory requirements for payroll accounting, and transfer price principles. Knowledge of IFRS would be considered advantageous
- Proficiency in using ERP systems for efficient financial management. Knowledge of MS Dynamics 365 will be considered advantageous.
- Experience in developing and managing budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Ability to monitor budget performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective action.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders. Fluency in English.
- Great Excel and PowerPoint skills.
