Aon South Africa is hiring a Facultative Reinsurance Accountant based on a hybrid basis, from our Head Office in Sandton.
The role of Facultative Reinsurance Accountant is to provide support to the Brokers in reinsurance accounting and administration functions through understanding and analyzing terms and conditions, processing and reconciling all accounts. In addition, the incumbent in this role is required to provide efficient and professional reinsurance claims administration and collection services nationally as well as internationally for the Reinsurance Facultative clients.

What The Day Will Look Like
Technical Accounts:
- Obtain and understand relevant supporting documentation (i.e. terms and conditions of the cover note).
- Extract relevant information from cover note and load information on the system.
- Be aware of timeframes and deadlines involved in area of responsibility.
- Analyse respective incoming accounts from clients to establish requirements and subtitles of the contract in relation to the accounts and identify anomalies.
- Process and reconcile accounts.
- Must be able to understand and apply session of a risk.
- Strong negotiations and presentation skill.
- Proactive approach to credit control.
- Own the client CSA.
- Identify if premium is proportional or non-proportional and process accordingly.
- Submit respective documentation (invoices etc.) to relevant clients and Reinsurers.
- Attend to and resolve queries timely.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders.
- Capture claims on the in-house system and actively supervise the claims' diary, client claim register and claim files.
- Advise Reinsurers of claims.
- Liaise with Brokers regarding cash calls and/ or similar matters raised by clients.
- Recover claims from Reinsurers and settle clients claims timeously.
- Monitor incoming receipts and payments from clients and Reinsurers.
- Liaise with the finance team on debtors' age analysis and recon items in order to clear outstanding matters.
- Prepare and distribute claims statistics to clients on a monthly basis in an agreed format.
- Identify and report potential problems in advance and proactively assist Brokers, clients and Reinsurers to resolve claims queries efficiently and professionally.
- Participate in special projects and ad hoc additional work requirements.
- Take accountability for cash call collections.
- Understand and follow the Aon Leadership Model and take ownership of personal development.

Education
- Required: Be in possession of Grade 12 (matric).
- Advantageous: Have Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk, Insurance, etc.
- Have the ability to multitask, plan and prioritize workload accordingly.
- Possess excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and spoken.
- Be analytical, pay attention to detail and have good problem-solving skills.
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Be a standout colleague with sound relationship building skills.
- Strong personal organization and self-management skills.
- Possesses advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
- Have sophisticated MS Office experience, especially MS Excel.
- Have knowledge of relevant systems (GRiDS, etc.)
- Individual with knowledge of the principles and practices within a technical/professional field.
- Be updated on relevant legislation (VAT etc.).
- Sound background, knowledge and understanding of insurance and reinsurance, with specific knowledge of Facultative.
- Have 2 - 3 years general accounting experience - experience in reinsurance accounting will be a distinct advantage.
- Have experience in facultative claims and accounting.
- Have previously had a mandate to settle claims.
- May be a graduate who is entering into a professional setting and learning to use professional concepts.
