Remuneration and benefits consultant wanted

An opportunity has arisen for a remuneration consultant to join one of the leading Remuneration and Benefit Consulting firms in South Africa.

Job requirements:

  • Our environment is one that does not focus on micro-management and prospective candidates must incorporate a measure of creating work structures which will enable them to handle a high-pressure environment and deliver within sometimes strenuous deadlines.
  • Prospective candidates will be expected to bring additional value to the business and its clients, therefore candidates will need to think outside of the box, be resourceful, entrepreneurial and take ownership and responsibility for delivery of work.
  • Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree (Statistics would be advantageous).
  • GRP Qualification (would be advantageous).
  • Having started career in Payroll (would be advantageous).
  • ADVANCED Excel Skills – Required, including but not limited to:
  • Look-up;
  • Vlook-up;
  • Hlook-up;
  • Pivot tables;
  • IF formulas;
  • SUM IF
  • COUNT IF;
  • Data Validation and;
  • Must be able to populate and prepare excel databases.
  • Must have good analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Policy and Proposal Drafting (HR, Payroll and Remuneration).
  • Affinity towards figures and stats (must be able to conduct statistical calculations).
  • Thorough understanding of Job Descriptions/Job Profiling and Job Evaluation/Job Grading (i.e. Paterson Grading System).
  • Thorough understanding of Salary Surveys and Market Benchmarking. Must be able to conduct Job Matching exercises and conduct statistical comparative analysis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Total Rewards Model.
  • Thorough understanding of how Remuneration Packages are structured and calculated.
  • Good understanding of Base/Guaranteed Pay Management.
  • Good understanding of Payscale principles and design (would be highly advantageous).
  • Long-term / short-term incentives knowledge (would be advantageous).
  • Knowledge of employment tax; taxable income, SDL, UIF etc.
  • Good client communication skills, must be presentable and have good work ethics as the role will be client facing.
  • Resourceful with regard to certain work and challenges.
  • Eager to self-develop.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Self-motivated individual able to use initiative and work independently and creatively at times.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
