The Cape Town BioAI Research department is looking for interns starting in February 2024, for a 6-month internship, focusing on exploring and fine-tuning advanced deep learning models. The project will involve applying these models to sequence problems in immunology, aiming to uncover new insights and improve understanding in this area of research.
Responsibilities
- Establish and improve on an understanding of sequence based deep learning approaches in immunology
- Set up Deep Learning training pipelines and train/fine-tune models
- Carry out performance analysis and ablation studies to compare approaches
- Iterate on neural network architectures and training techniques
- Present findings orally and in writing
- Good programming skills in Python 3
- Broad theoretical and practical knowledge of existing deep learning methods (supervised, unsupervised, convolution-based, attention-based, recurrent)
- Familiarity with one of the following DL libraries: PyTorch, Tensorflow, Jax
