Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.Eng. or B.Sc. Eng) or Bachelor of Technology degree in Engineering (B.Tech. Eng) in a relevant discipline, or
- Diploma in Engineering (B.Techni.Eng.) in a relevant discipline with appropriate experience.
- Registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) or SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions).
- Labour Intensive Construction NQF Level 5 or 7.
The salary for this position is negotiable and will be in the range of R60, 000 to R100, 000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
Area:
This position is project-based and will be located in the Free State region.
Contract Period:
The initial contract period is 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
Duties:
As a Resident Engineer/Construction Manager, your key responsibilities and duties will include:
- Managing and overseeing all aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Providing technical expertise and guidance to the project team, including contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Monitoring project progress, resolving any technical issues, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Conducting regular inspections and site visits to assess construction quality and progress.
- Managing project resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution.
- Collaborating with project stakeholders to establish project goals, objectives, and deliverables.
- Preparing and reviewing project documentation, including plans, specifications, and progress reports.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
- Conducting regular project meetings to provide updates, address concerns, and coordinate activities.
- Managing project risks and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
- Leading and supervising project teams, providing guidance and support to achieve project objectives.
- Ensuring effective communication and coordination with clients, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate project records and documentation, including change orders, variations, and as-built drawings.
- Monitoring and evaluating contractor performance, ensuring adherence to contract terms and specifications.
- Overseeing health and safety practices on-site, promoting a safe working environment.
