Responsibilities
- Daily preparation of shop opening & cleaning
- Greeting of guests at the entrance of the restaurant
- Assisting guests with seating allocation
- Handing out menus to guests
- Recommendation of meals and drinks in accordance with customer preferences
- Have an extremely good understanding of the menu and ingredients per dish
- Taking of food and drink orders as well as punching this in on the POS system
- Staying attentive to the needs of guests in the dining area and ensuring the best customer service per
- Delivering food from the kitchen to the guests in a timeous manner (speed of service is essential)
- Printing of bills and processing of bill payments (cash & card)
- Ensuring the food order is made correctly by kitchen staff and looks presentable for guests also
- Following health code standards with regards to the handling of food
- Performing shift duties like delivering racks of cups to the service station, rolling silverware, pre-bussing
- Ensure that tables are cleaned and presentable for the next guests
- Closing of table so on the POS system
- Processing of Take-away orders as well as preparation thereof.
- Build rapport with customers as to ensure the best possible dining experience is delivered
- Deal with customer complaints in a professional manner along with management
- Grade 12 Minimum
- Minimum 2 years previous experience at an upper tier establishment
- Knowledge of cocktails and drinks would be beneficial
- Knowledge of POS systems would be beneficial
