As an Retail Area Manager , you will be responsible for overseeing security operations within the retail sector across multiple locations. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safety and security of our clients' assets, employees, and customers while maintaining a high level of service delivery.
Key Requirements
- A-Grade Registered (Updated)
- Valid Driver's license
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Reside in the areas of Caledon, Swellendam, Riviersonderend, Riversdale, Bonnievale
- Proven experience in security management, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Minimum of 3 years working a retail area manager.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Sound knowledge of security practices, laws, and regulations.
- Ability to analyze data, assess risks, and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in using security technology and systems.

Operational Management:
- Supervise and coordinate security teams across multiple locations within the designated area.
- Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Conduct regular site visits to stores and other facilities to ensure compliance and address any security concerns.
- Recruit, train, and mentor security staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles.
- Monitor team performance, conduct performance evaluations, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive work culture that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and excellence in service delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their security needs and expectations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client communication and address any security-related issues or inquiries.
- Collaborate with clients to develop and implement customized security solutions and strategies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits at stores and other locations to identify potential vulnerabilities and threats.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans.

- Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and resolutions.

- Adherence to Policies: Adhere to all company policies, regulations, and safety standards while carrying out job duties..
- Responsible for any losses that my occur in the Shoprite stores which has been allocated to him.
- Attend shrinkage meets with the client Shoprite.
- Attend the stock takes of each store.
- Visit each store at least once a week.
- Four (4) openings as well as four (4) closing of store per month.
- Conduct locker searches as well as roadblock at the store.
- Manage a security team
- Ensure that all sites are covered by 10:00 every day.
- Plan and draft of monthly duty rosters, duty rosters must be on site no later than the 10th of each month
- Do department checks in all Checkers, Shoprite and Usave stores, that you are responsible
- Control budgets for security operations and monitor expenses
- Attend meetings with other managers to determine operational needs
- Plan and perform Store Openings, Store Closings and Roadblocks in your area.
- Capture all arrest in your area, with in five (5) days of the incident
- Investigate and resolve issues
- Create reports for management on security status
- Monthly shrinkage meeting must be attended on all sites
- Monthly meetings with all guards on sites must be conducted
- Respond and attend to any calls or complaints from any of the Site Senior or Store Management.
