Successful candidates will be involved in creating new client relationships as well as maintaining already existing relationships. They will also be fully involved in the entire sales cycle. Ideally candidates will have experience in the technical sales environment, as well as experience in retail.
Key responsibilities:
- Establish, develop and maintain positive in contact business relationships with current and prospective customers in the specified areas to generate business for the companys products
- Increase the visibility and awareness of our companys products and maximize sales growth
- Conduct store visits to assess, present, promote and sell suitable products to existing and and prospective customers
- Plan effective store visits to ensure time spend with each store retailer is constructive. Increase number of stores buying from the company within each Key Account group and independents
- Research and analyze sources to actively engage prospective customers including cold calling on potential customers through customer visits
- Complete credit applications thoroughly and correctly for new customers
- Monitor and evaluate data and market conditions to identify opportunities and competitive advantage - Understand the market in which we are operating in
- Record keeping Maintain up to date sales information by keeping sales files by month, by customer so that information is readily available.
- Conduct Product basket analysis by market segment - current product vs. typical product basket to identify any sales opportunities
- Implement clear objectives to measure success - increase product basket, increase fill- rate, more shelf space, create pull-through effect;
- Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends - Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interest, competitive activities, and potential new products and services.
- Fully comply and operate - customer relationship management application with every store visit
- Be aware of competitor products and their prices in the market place including promotions and advertisements. Keep up-to-date of best practices and promotional trends. Monitor and report back to management on opposition activities as well as market trends;
- Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction.
- Must be willing to travel, including overnight stays, to different hardware stores
- Valid drivers license with Own transport
- Willing to travel every 4 weeks outside Cape Town region sleep over is required to reduce travel expenses in terms of fuel
- Working Hours: Mon-Thurs: 8 - 5 pm, Fridays 8 - 3pm,
- Willing to work some weekends at hardware stores assisting with in-store promotions
- Monitor stock in stores, check expiry dates, do merchandising.
- Do demos of products in store (weekdays and weekends) depending on customer requirements.
- Do practical training of products with customers.
- Go to site visits to assist customers with technical applications and complaints.
- Complete monthly KPI reports with full feedback on sales activities.
- Make use of Point of Sales and are responsible to put this up, install and manage it in store.
- Selling and managing of expired and short dated stock also monitor stock and do stock rotation in store to limit this problem.
- Increasing the basket in existing customer base.
- Open up two new accounts per month.
- Follow up on orders, credit applications, outstanding payments.
- Attend sales meetings and provide feedback on competitors.
- Minimum of 13 sales visits to customer premises is required daily, to action above requirements.
- Assist with smaller deliveries of stock for better service delivery and cost savings
- Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales
- Excellent communication, negotiation and sales skills, high attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Strong organisational and time management skills Excellent verbal and written English and Afrikaans communication skills
