The Durban ICC is calling for suitable candidates to apply for the position of risk manager.
Job responsibilities:
- Incumbent will be required to manage all Durban ICC's security related matters and oversee all health and safety across the complex.
- This position is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all guests, employees, and physical assets of the Complex.
- Draft as well as implement Security Policies and Procedures and ensure that these are being adhered to throughout the complex, to ensure legislative compliance and safe work environment.
- Promote awareness of policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
- Ensure that the Durban ICC complies with Government legislation.
- Ensure clients, services providers and suppliers comply with Security and Health & Safety legislation on all events.
- Review Risk assessments for all events with appointed /contracted security service providers.
- Approve all external security plans where applicable and ensure implementation thereof.
- Respond to/manage emergency situations as and when required as part of the 24 hour emergency team.
- Liaise with Police, Fire Services, Health Department and EMRS.
- Manage, oversee all CCTV activities and appointed CCTV controllers.
- Manage, oversee the outsourced security and parking management contractors.
- Exercise authority in stopping any unsafe practices and take necessary action to ensure the implementation of safe work procedures and work environment.
Job requirements:
- TG 15 R599 989.00 TCTC PER ANNUM (Internal/External)
- Recognised Degree in Security Management/Criminology/Police Science and or similar qualification.
- SAMTRAC Certification.
- Registered with PSIRA.
- Eight (08) to ten (10) years' experience in Security Management.
- Experience working in the events industry preferably within an International Convention Centre or similar environment.
- Good knowledge and understanding of the Events Safety Act (SASREA).
- Member of Professional associations such as ASIS International an added advantage.
- Assertive with strong leadership skills and has the ability to interact effectively with peers, subordinates and service providers.
- Attention to detail and quality oriented.
- Works well under pressure and able to make on the spot decisions.
- Willing to work shifts including, evenings, weekends and public holidays as business dictates.
