Job Summary
The Rope Access Technician will be responsible for performing work at heights and in confined spaces using rope access techniques during the commissioning of the FLNG vessel. They will work closely with other teams and trades to access difficult-to-reach areas for inspection, maintenance, and installation activities.
Responsibilities
Rope Access Operations:
- Safely use rope access techniques to access elevated or challenging work areas, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Rig ropes, anchors, and other equipment for ascending, descending, and traversing.
- Perform work tasks while suspended from ropes, using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Adhere to strict safety guidelines, including fall protection measures, equipment inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Regularly inspect personal protective equipment (PPE) and rope access equipment to ensure they are in good condition.
- Perform various tasks such as inspections, maintenance, repairs, installations, and painting while working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Follow project specifications, work orders, and procedures to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Safely use, handle, and maintain rope access equipment, harnesses, ascenders, descenders, and other specialized tools.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, defects, or maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, including task details, locations, equipment used, and safety measures taken.
- Complete required reports and paperwork associated with rope access operations.
- Coordinate with team members and supervisors to plan and execute rope access tasks.
- Communicate effectively regarding work progress, challenges, and equipment needs.
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, including rescues and evacuations, while maintaining safety for oneself and others.
- Relevant certification in rope access (e.g., IRATA or SPRAT).
- Previous experience as a Rope Access Technician in industrial settings.
- Proficient in using rope access equipment and safety gear.
- Knowledge of safety standards and best practices related to rope access work.
- Previous offshore experience
- Experience working on a project (commissioning/construction/hookup)
- Need to be comfortable working offshore for 2-3 months
- Valid Passport
- Possess the following certifications: BOSIET/FOET, OGUK Medical, Yellow Fever card, Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Preference will be given to profiles from Africa, America and Europe.
