Job Description
The Safety Officer is a legal appointment in terms of regulation 2.17.1 of the Minerals Act.
Focus areas for this role include:
- Collect and analyse safety data.
- Short range Operational Unit planning.
- Stop work if unsafe and facilitate accident investigations.
- Carry out statutory inspections (30, 25, 90 days).
- Compile safety reports and verify compliance to safety systems.
Qualifications
You will be required to have:
- Grade 12 or N3 equivalent.
- Blasting Certificate for metalliferous operations or a relevant Trade Test is required.
- Courses in ISO 14001 and 45001 Safety Management Systems is required will be advantageous.
- SHEP Safety training completion would be advantageous.
- 3 Years relevant experience as a Safety Officer and /or acting as a Safety Officer within a UG Mining (Mechanized (TMM) and/or Conventional) environment is required.
- Trackless Mobile Machinery experience
- Presentation / Facilitation/ Training.
- COMSOC I & II or equivalent, SAMTRAC & OSHAS 18 001.
- ITIS/Train the Trainer.
- Auditors courses for Safety and Risk Control management.
- Risk Assessment Techniques: (SWIFT, HAZOP and FMECA).
- Accident investigation (ICAM/RCAT/SCAT).
- Fire (Intermediate fire FPA) and First Aid.
- Computer literate (MS Office and Projects).
- Valid drivers license.
- Basic computer literate.
- If successful, you will be required to take a Medical Fitness Test.
