Short Introduction
The position of sales manager consists of directing the actual distribution or movement of a product or service to the customer, coordinating sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals. It also consists of establishing sales training programs for sales representatives, and analysing sales statistics gathered by staff to determine sales potential and inventory requirements and monitor the preferences of customers and to provide the sales team with the leadership, direction and resources to ensure sales targets are achieved and to liaise with Brand Team to ensure short and long term strategies are implemented optimally by the team.
Minimum Requirements
- NQF Level 06 qualification in Sales/Marketing (e.g. National Diploma, N6)
- 2 years sales experience
- Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong entrepreneurial qualities
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, to be aware of others’ reactions and why they do, and to persuade others to change their minds or behaviour.
- Proven track record in the management of staff, exceeding 10 sales staff members an advantage
- Financial services sales experience an added advantage
Job Specification
- Develop and assist the sales force in achieving their sales targets through ongoing field coaching, training programs (strategic selling, product knowledge, and territory management), sales meetings, regular one-on-one communication, and appropriate reward and recognition.
- Confer or consult with department heads to plan advertising services and secure information on equipment and customer specifications;
- Assist sales team in identifying barriers and drivers to successful implementation of strategies and coordinate multi-disciplinary in-field teams to address and leverage opportunities timeously and efficiently where needed;
- Determine price schedules and discount rates
- Direct and coordinate activities sales of manufactured products, services, commodities, real estate or other subjects of sale;
- Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts;
- Oversee sales supervisors and their staffs;
- Plan and direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop to develop and control sales and service programs;
- Prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures;
- Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service;
- Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability
- Actively seek, identify, analyze, and present new business opportunities and improvement ideas to senior management and Brand Team on an ongoing basis.
