This role is designed for a proactive professional who excels in a variety of business functions including administrative support, key account management, client relationship development, and strategic initiatives to drive business growth. As the backbone of our sales and development team, the role will play a crucial part in supporting our marketing efforts, managing critical accounts, and assisting in the overall operational efficiency of our team. The contribution will directly impact our sales outcomes and the expansion of our market presence.
Key Activities/Responsibilities

Marketing Budget Management
- Manage the marketing budget.
- Monitor and control marketing expenditures to ensure they are within budget.
- Allocate funds across various marketing channels and activities to maximize ROI.
- Track and report on budget performance, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with commercial teams and regional finance to ensure accurate budget forecasting and reconciliation.
- Draw up and execute on the marketing plan
- Liaise with the sales team to understand their needs for marketing materials.
- Work with various marketing agencies to design marketing elements for field use.
- Work with marketing agencies to develop and build a social media presence.
- Decide on the timing and deployment of different marketing materials.
- Ensure all marketing elements are compliant with marketing regulations and approved by the corporate team.
- Work with the BU Head to manage these accounts.
- Assist in managing wholesalers within the lens care space.
- Build relationships with wholesalers, Clicks, and Dischem
- Plan and execute promotional activities in these channels, building on a sound understanding of the various promotional activities that currently happen.
- Explore different marketing elements and in-store promotional activities available in these channels either in-house or through external vendors.
- New product listings in various channels.
- Play the lead role at universities by delivering talks and conducting training sessions for 3rd and 4th-year students.
- Organize and participate in round table talks to engage with industry professionals.
- Provide training to optometrists as needed to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Develop CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programs by collaborating with international and local partners.
- Set up and manage platforms for CPD initiatives.
- Contribute to the growth and expansion of Vision Care in South Africa.
- Help build market share through various initiatives.
- Work with various design agencies on strategy and concept design.
- Take a n active role in new product launches and conferences (e.g., set design, backdrops, marketing elements, roll out, social media, pricing etc.).
- Conduct customer surveys and full competitor analysis.
- Assist in day-to-day operations as needed.
- Develop and maintain online sales platforms by liaising with external partners.
- Drive promotions in the optometry space.
- Improve the online platform through various initiatives to enhance the buying and customer experience.
- Matric
- A valid drivers license, as national travel is expected.
- Specific experience relevant to this role (e.g., Ophthalmic, etc.).
- Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Business, Management, Science, or equivalent.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare environment
- Specific experience relevant to this role (e.g., Ophthalmic, etc.).
- Proficiency in CRM software
- Minimum 3 years experience in product management
- And/or Sales Representative Experience
- Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare environment
