Overview:As our Sales Director, you'll be the driving force behind our retail success. Your exceptional track record in product sales and your strong network of connections in chain stores, hardware retailers, and outlet stores will make you an invaluable asset. Leading a team of approximately 25 staff, you'll guide and inspire them to new heights. Your expertise in importing products will be put to the test as you manage relationships with national chains, senior buyers, independent store owners, and e-commerce platforms.
Your Responsibilities
Customer Connections:
- Forge and maintain relationships with decision makers and buyers at prominent national chains, hardware retailers, and retail outlet stores.
- Connect with buyers at Builders, Leroy Merlin, Build it, Buco, Cash Build, Chamberlains, Mica, and other key players.
- Leverage your knowledge of the FMCG industry and related products to enhance in-store presence.
- Utilize your experience with e-commerce platforms to enhance our online sales strategies.
- Embrace regular travel across Southern Africa to nurture existing relationships and establish new ones.
- Stay on top of marketplace trends, adapting your strategies to seize opportunities.
- Take the reins of our online store, introducing new products and managing online advertising efforts.
- Coordinate stock orders from local and foreign suppliers, leveraging your expertise in managing logistics and lead times.
- Cultivate strong relationships with international suppliers, ensuring quality products at competitive prices.
- Collaborate with foreign suppliers to explore new products and specifications.
- Uphold exceptional customer service across the retail division.
- Manage all aspects of warehousing and distribution, optimizing processes and controls.
- Assess staff performance and arrange training as needed, fostering a high-performing team.
- Recruit, lead, and discipline team members, including sales representatives and agents.
- Present monthly business results to the Board.
- Participate in quarterly board meetings, offering insights into branch performance.
- Proven wholesale/retail sales experience.
- Stellar negotiation skills to drive purchasing decisions.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to capture market share.
- Proficiency in logistics, HR, and purchasing.
- Effective management of a national sales team.
- Technical acumen and innovative thinking.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience with e-commerce platforms and online sales strategies.
- Proficient in Office365 tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
