Howden Africa Compressors & Turbines Division is looking for a Sales Engineer to support and expand the customer base within the full aftermarket Compressor and Turbine portfolio from mainly sales perspective, achieving sales budgets and business driven margins. This role will be responsible for the development and promotion of the sale of Howden products and services to all new and existing territory customers and managing the Roots Blower agents.
What needs to be done?
- Achieve bookings targets
- Pro-actively promote and sell Howden products and services by visiting customers on a regular and planned basis
- Maintain good records for territory, of its present and prospective customers. Also records relating to Howden competition and their activities
- Develop strong, long-term, business relationships with customers
- Prepare and present professional presentations to customers relating to Products and Services to customer management and staff. Discuss, negotiate and finalise proposals with customers
- Act as a single point of contact when required on difficult company problems with customers to co-ordinate complex customer problems internal and external
- Promote and organise customer visits to Howden facilities
- Provide advice/ assistance to credit and collection, marketing and completes sales
- Develop and maintain a detailed territory plan
- Utilize Howden software/reporting systems. Responsible for all administration related to the sales function in order to meet agreed standards by:
- Ensuring tenders are completed in accordance with clients requirements
- Ensure all required tender registers are completed and kept up to date
- Verifying order against tender for required delivery and conditions of sale.
- Complete Contract sheets in accordance with Client and Howden requirements.
- Ensure proper handover documentation complete for each contract to Project Department
- Negotiate and communicate with customer on equipment requirements, prices and commercial conditions verbally or in writing if required
- Constantly communicate with clients to update them on progress of contract in accordance with procedures.
- Seek opportunities to support the customer and strengthen the relationships.
- Communicate internally with Quality, Engineering and Projects to ensure that they comply with client requirements.
- Approve tenders in accordance with GOM and grant discounts in accordance with company procedure with management approval.
- Responsible to ensure correct levels of authority are obtained if outside of the above limits.
- Comply with ISO9000, OCHSA 18000 and ISO14000
- Ensure CRM is updated and kept up to date and update AX as required.
- Do monthly and year forecast and manage the sales funnel to 2.5 budget requirement.
- Report competitor & market activity information.
- Determine how best to deploy all Howden resources in order to maximize bookings & profitability
- Grade 12/ Matric
- Degree or National Diploma in Engineering / Sales
- A minimum of 5 years technical sales experience in similar discipline.
- Technical knowledge of Rotating Equipment, Reciprocating Compressors, Gas Compressor Engines & Turbines
- Knowledge of the application of above products at customers facilities
- Market knowledge and commercial understanding
- Computer literacy with intermediate knowledge in MS Word, Excel and Projects
- Customer facing experience essential.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
