A position has become available in our Motor Claims department for a Heavy Commercial Claims Moderator. The successful incumbent will be based in Auckland Park office, Johannesburg, Gauteng.
What Will Make You Successful In The Role
- To ensure the most appropriate and effective Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) repair cost and process is approved on selected claims
- Identification of trends and loss off economic opportunity within the claims life cycle
- To increase and enhance the HCV Assessor skills in identifying and approving the most effective repair cost and process as well as guiding Adjusters on negotiation skills with HVRs, Brokers and Clients through on the job coaching/peer coaching (Elevate the quality and assessing standard of HCV Assessors)
- To provide specialist technical support
- To physical do Work in Progress (WIP) on selected HCV claims
- To assist Assessors to negotiate and settle claims with clients within the delegated threshold related to Santams financial risk and aligned to the Claims Framework and relevant SOPs
- Specific focus on technical quality of assessments and the implementation of correct repair methodology
- Ensure application of business rules
- Knowledge Sharing
- Moderating the following key aspects of an assessment with specific reference to HCV repairs costs:
- Validity of assessment on a digital basis
- Ensuring a standard quality of assessment report
- Validity of appropriate repair process at best possible repair cost is applied
- Validity of additional repair cost approval and provide guidance
- Evaluating final repair cost (FRC) calculations
- Perform Work in Progress as well as open and close file audits where required
- Providing continuous guidance and assistance on technical repairs
- Liaising with HVRs and assessors on technical aspects and repair methodology
- Moderation of wrecks
- Monthly and Ad Hoc reporting on the moderation results including solutions for improvement
- On the job coaching/peer coaching
- Formal Qualified Diesel Mechanic, Panel beater or other Automotive relevant qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV)
- Minimum 10 years HCV or equivalent HCV claims assessing and claim settlement experience
- At least 5 years technical knowledge HCV experience of mechanical damage, body damage and legal Industry repair requirements
- Attendance of Santam Truck school training and or other related courses
- Vehicle Damage Quantification Qualification (VDQ) member
- Coaching experience
- HCV Claims handling process experience
- Previous experience and knowledge of HCV claims moderation is a recommendation
- Telephonic, negotiation and conflict handling skills
- Basic business ethics and financial principles related to claims
- Time management

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Computer Literacy
