Purpose of Position:
Responsible for specialised analytical techniques, method optimization, trouble shooting and technical training of analysts
Requirements:
BSc Hons/ MSc/ PhD (Chemical Pathology/ Biochemistry/ Pharmacology) (Required), Registered as Medical Scientist/ Intern Medical Scientist (Clinical Biochemistry) with the HPCSA (Required)
Required Experience:
5-10 years relevant laboratory experience, Advanced experience in Chemical Pathology / Special Chemistry Laboratory techniques & methods, Advanced experience in relevant laboratory procedures, instrumentation, training & troubleshooting (Chromatography & Spectrometry)
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with Laboratory Accreditation in order to ensure best practices are upheld, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath, Maintain good laboratory practice in order to ensure a clean and safe work environment, Method development, validation & optimisation in order to ensure continuous development in new and improved laboratory processes, Oversee and assist with the daily operations in the sections including training in order to ensure efficient processing of specimens.
- Technical application with the focus on method optimisation & troubleshooting on LC-MS-MS, GC-MS, HPLC & ICP-MS
- Technical training on analysts, Perform administration tasks in order to ensure effective administration systems in the laboratory, Use laboratory computer system in order to ensure accurate processing of specimen requests and to provide assistance with result enquiries
