Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Description
As Section Manager PSO, you will provide various services and your responsibilities will include:
- Manage the controls team including cost controllers, document controllers.
- Oversee the development of an integrated cost control plan incorporating all stakeholders and technical functions.
- Providing input into Portfolio Management with regards to the capital budget and spending.
- Provide governance guidance to all Project Managers and Program managers.
- Assure that local procurement targets are met.
- Work in conjunction with the procurement department to negotiate and award a contract that will be feasible for the company.
- Oversee all documentation control for the SIB projects hub for Sishen Kumba iron ore mine.
- Arrange Change Board meetings and review all presentations presented at the change board.
- Review all approval memos as set out in the Kumbas DAF (Delegation Authority Framework).
- Oversee the monitoring of all cash-flows, providing accurate month-end reports.
- Arrange and chair month-end cost review meetings between project managers and the supply chain.
- Give feedback to Manager Project Services regarding cost control issues.
- Oversee capitalization of projects that have been closed out.
- Assist the lead schedular to assure that cost and schedules are align.
- Work with the Kolomela finance team to assure accurate reporting on RECOs and HME.
- Ensure transparent reporting of progress supported by: QA of the data collection process, analysis and interpretation of root cause of variance, remedial actions to rectify or substantiated forecasted impact to the project and establishment of required tools and techniques to ensure ongoing data integrity (auditable) and alignment.
Qualifications
- Compulsory Technical Degree (Construction, Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Architecture) or/and BCom Accounting or Law.
- Highly preferred Project Management Qualification (Post graduate Diploma / Masters in Project Management / Program in Project Management)
- Highly preferred Registration as Project Management Professional (PMP) with Project Management Institute (PMI)
- Minimum 10 years experience in a construction projects or mining environment, working in controls management role oversee all disciplines (cost / doc control), or project management role, which 5 years should be in a mining project environment.
