About the role:
We are searching for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accounting Specialist to join a dynamic team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing local accounting functions, ensuring smooth collaboration with the Company’s Shared Service Centre, and providing financial leadership within the country.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire local accounting cycle, with a focus on month-end closing and adherence to deadlines.
- Prepare financial reports (IFRS and local GAAP) and manage tax reporting.
- Oversee the interface between the operational business and Shared Service Centre, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify and implement adjustments to the P&L/balance sheet and accounts structure.
- Maintain the closing schedule, monitor service level agreements, and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and fiscal authorities.
- Authorize accounting adjustments, review reports, and present final financial statements.
- Oversee accounts payable, manage bank authorizations, and ensure adherence to SAFA regulations.
- Manage and support the country's business accounting team, providing disciplinary and functional leadership.
- Collaborate and build strong relationships with internal teams (Controlling, Sales, etc.) and external partners.
Requirements:
- B.Com Honours in Accounting (preferably with completed articles from a reputable auditing firm).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant industry (transport and logistics preferred).
- Up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and strong understanding of SAP FI/CO.
- Proven leadership and people management skills (8+ years of experience).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
- Ability and willingness to travel to Angola and Mozambique occasionally.
