We present to you an exciting opportunity to join a prestigious firm, offering innovative client-centric solutions across the entire PV project life-cycle. Our client has an impressive portfolio of developing and providing financial support on solar projects. Their project footprint is large across South Africa with a number of smaller projects deployed across unique and challenging territories in sub-Saharan Africa. They are renowned for their excellence in providing solutions such as project development, construction, engineering, and operations management required for the establishment and longevity of utility-scale solar PV facilities, however, they have also successfully executed various grid-tied and off-grid projects below the MW threshold. As our ideal candidate, you have obtained a bachelors degree in either accounting or engineering. Being in possession of a CA qualification would be a big plus. You have an impressive track record showing off your expertise in managing utility-scale solar energy assets and are highly skilled in ensuring that the projects achieve the expected energy yields as defined by the contractual obligations. We want to know how you have solved challenges that have seen you able to avoid deviating from the project portfolio budget, and how you have ensured that the numbers pertaining to your unit have remained within budget with minimal variance (cost savings are what we really want to hear about) and how you have ensured that all debt and equity distributions and drawdowns have never missed a deadline.
As a financial management professional, you are equipped with best-in-practice project finance techniques and your expertise will be crucial in translating financial models that the projects were built upon. To excel in the role, you need to have a proactive and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment. In your personal capacity, you are someone who is self-driven and capable of identifying opportunities and implementing strategies to optimize project portfolio performance. Education Requirements
- Bachelors in Accounting/Engineering
- CA/CFA charter holder highly beneficial
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in infrastructure asset management portfolios in the renewable energy sector managing a portfolio of 250MW+
- You must know the ins and outs of financial models, able to interpret and translate every aspect of those models
- Successfully managed assets allocated to SPVs
- Excellent client-facing skills, you have experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders
- You are capable of assessing and mitigating risks associated with investment portfolios
- Experience reporting to the board of directors and various stakeholders
- Handling project finance pertaining to; construction drawdowns, repayments, and distributions(debt and equity related)
As a Senior Asset Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the performance of their investments and assets. You will collaborate with the Project Finance Lead, manage communication between various departments, and external providers as well as lead a growing asset management team. A key responsibility will be to report on the actual/expected yield of the project portfolio and closely monitor the project budget variance. Ensuring that project processes comply with the projects accounting, corporate, and legal agreements. Your responsibility entails effectively reporting on the construction progress and operational performance of the plants. The reports presented at board meetings should be thorough, transparent, and well-documented, providing shareholders with a comprehensive understanding of the status and performance of the assets. You will also be responsible for managing timely debt repayments, and equity distributions and performing due diligence of the SPV assets. Your role is to ensure that processes are conducted effectively and in accordance with established standards and regulations. You will uphold the commitment to promoting financial integrity, transparency, and accountability within the project companies and funding vehicles, with the aim of instilling confidence among stakeholders and investors.
