Purpose of Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing goods and services as well as managing suppliers to ensure accurate stock availability to ensure all OE and service parts are procured at the right price on time at the right cost.
This role will have the responsibility to manage specific projects and hold a larger remit in terms of purchasing responsibility. Must be willing to travel locally.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for purchasing of material, equipment and services to meet internal and external stakeholders requirements timeously.
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
- Liaise with suppliers to contain costs and enhance service levels
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in order to enhance lead time and improve service levels, management of supplier order book. Weekly meetings with suppliers
- Order placement and confirmations
- Continues improvement actions to ensure OTD improvement
- Executing and driving down MRP exception messages
- Slotting room management
- System update audit and Supplier audits
- Stock level management and prevention of stock outs.
- Overdue management
- Support expeditors with day to day activities were needed
- Explore alternative sources for supply for goods and materials
- Meet suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery and invoicing issues
- Adherence of all SHE and housekeeping requirements.
- Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times
- Matric. / Grade 12 certificate
- Degree in Purchasing management
- Computer literate (MS Office), Advance Excel
- ERP System
- 5 - 7 years related experience in an Engineering manufacturing environment
- Project Management experience
- Understanding of metals (Foundry, Machining, Tooling)
- The Bill of Materials (BOM) and the impact on order creation.
- Intermediate to advance knowledge of Inco Terms
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
- Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels
- Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities
- Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
