Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of elderly patients, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial evaluations.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed, while ensuring patient safety and adherence to established protocols.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and facilitating coping mechanisms.
- Advocate for patient rights and autonomy, ensuring their preferences and values are respected. Facilitate smooth transitions of care, coordinating referrals to specialists and community resources as needed.
- Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.
- Two year associate degree or a four year BSN.
- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification recognized by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- NQF Level 6
- Prior experience in geriatric or elderly care is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Empathy, compassion, and patience in working with elderly patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
