Senior Communications Officer AME

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a Senior Communications officer to join and grow their team.

You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams . You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the implementation of operation-specific internal communication plans in alignment with Barrick's mission, DNA, business plan, and global strategy.
• Collaborate with operational HR and CSR teams to implement internal initiatives, campaigns, and engagement activities in the Africa and Middle East region.
• Identify and develop diverse internal communication channels and partner with other areas of the business to ensure message alignment and coordination.
• Create tailored messaging and content for internal communications programs and track metrics and KPIs to measure their impact.
• Provide support for other communication functions, including external communications and the compilation of reports.
• Maintain the group's corporate identity, brand, and image.
• Manage regional-specific digital communication platforms and assist in organizing conferences, media, and shareholder events.
• Drive the DNA awareness strategy and plan across all levels of the organization through the In-Reach program.
• Create content for internal communication platforms, social media, and external platforms as required, in alignment with Barrick's overall corporate communication strategy.
• Facilitate the implementation and delivery of Health and Safety objectives, campaigns, and initiatives across all levels of the operation through the In-Reach program.
• Participate actively in the global communications team, contributing insight and ideas to peers across the group.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification preferably in Communications and Graphic Design.

Experience And Competencies Needed

• Excellent English verbal, written and communication skills are essential.
• Experience in MS Suite (Excel/ Word/ PowerPoint/ Outlook)
• Ability to work well under pressure, with different teams and meeting tight deadlines.
• Natural interest in communications, branding and reputation management and ability to keep up with latest developments.
• Experience in building strong, personal, and effective relationships.
• Design, photography & videography experience, or knowledge an advantage.
• Must have a good understanding of digital communication.
• Understanding of communications strategies, monitoring and evaluation systems, etc.
• French verbal, written and communication skills would be an advantage.
