The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary teams either in Cape Town or Johannesburg, South Africa. We pride ourselves on our extensive support network and our strength in numbers.
Working very closely with colleagues and clients, you will be responsible for interpreting the client brief and developing designs at all stages from scheme through to detail. Acting independently to investigate solutions, you will explore options, work closely with external collaborators and lead a team to develop and communicate design solutions.
As well as the production of design information, a key part of role will be managing and supervising colleagues in the production and refinement of designs to ensure that we produce the highest quality product for our clients. You will be responsible to managing and monitoring resources to deliver the agreed commercial performance of your projects.
You will be an inquisitive and creative, solution-orientated yet collaborative, persuasive and engaging individual who gives their all to ensure the client is happy and the solution both high-quality and practical.
You will be accountable to a project director/manager for day-to-day delivery and you will be provided with formal and informal support to develop your skills. You will liaise with other disciplines within the regional office and elsewhere within the company. You may be required to work away from your normal office from time to time.
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for individuals with the following experience
- Bachelors Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline with professional registration with ECSA
- Excellent understanding of electrical building services systems with a proven track record in developing concept schemes and detailed designs along with preparing design stage reports
- Experience in leading Healthcare or Data Centre projects with the strong ability to work on multiple projects at any given time
- Proven experience in Science and Laboratory facility design and good knowledge of standards and best practice including a varied portfolio of medium to large scale completed projects with experience across a range of project scales and other building types
- Experienced in sustainable building design and in satisfying the regulatory and voluntary codes associated with the sustainability, energy strategy, including a strong interest in Net Zero Carbon Design
