Senior IT Manager

What the role entails:

Our client is looking for a Senior IT Manager to oversee the entire IT system of their company, including managing the network, creating secure and reliable connections to clients' sites and ensuring the AWS cloud-based server platform is setup and operating optimally.

Their business is in a large growth phase so the ability to create and implement a scalable IT system will be a critical success factor for anyone assuming the role.

Role requirements and expertise include the following:

• Supervise and upskill a team of IT technicians.
• Creation and management of tasks and reporting processes.
• Design, plan and support network and computing infrastructure (for on premise or on cloud)
• Experience and understanding of AWS is required.
• Install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks/servers;
• Experience and knowledge around Mikrotik and routers is required.
• Install, configure, maintain network services, equipment and devices;
• Experience with VPNs and IPSec Tunnels is a requirement.
• Perform troubleshooting analysis of workstations, servers and network equipment;
• Manages all system back-up and restore protocol;
• Manage all corporate network equipment and firewall;
• Report into senior management with relevant and digestible feedback.

What You Will Need

• Degree/Diploma in IT networking or any related discipline
• Min 4-5 years of relevant working experience
• Experience and certification in AWS or Azure Cloud Platform
• Experience deploying WAN networks including, VPN, MPLS, IPSEC tunnels to AWS/AZURE
• Strong communication and management skills

Reporting Line And Other Requirements

• You will report to the COO and be a senior of part of the Senior Operations team. They have a strong belief in the importance of our collaborative environment and as such, the candidate is expected to be in the office (Milpark, Johannesburg) 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday. This requirement also stems from the need to train and oversee the existing technical team within the physical Control Room. They believe the continuous engagement and collaboration of employees to be an important factor in growing a business which remains aligned to a single long-term goal.
• Given the 24/7 nature of an IT system, afterhours work will be required if any software / networking failures occur during outside of office hours.
• As the business is in its early stages (founded about 5 years ago), you will also require a certain amount of flexibility that comes with a start-up.
