Job Purpose: The Senior Manager will oversee a team of Underwriters to ensure that risks to the business are managed within the company's risk appetite and industry standards. They will also assist in product development and system enhancements while monitoring underwriting systems and providing input for innovation strategies
Responsibilities
- Overseeing underwriting projects and providing technical assistance.
- Managing risk analysis and identifying trends to adjust underwriting practices.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders and managing relationships.
- Developing and implementing underwriting policies and procedures.
- Ensuring operational compliance and managing audits.
- Providing leadership, direction, and performance management for the team.
- Budget management for the department.
- Personal and organizational capability building.
- Technical competencies including underwriting, compliance, communication, data analysis, negotiation, planning, and organizing.
- Grade 12 or SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential)
- Relevant Degree in Business Management/ BCom or equivalent (Essential)
- FAIS & RE5 (Essential); IISA or insurance accreditation (Advantageous)
- 8 to 10 years in short-term insurance, with managerial experience (Essential)
