Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives.
- Conduct detailed engineering analyses, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to guide design decisions and project planning.
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems, employing state-of-the-art CAD and modeling tools to create accurate schematics and prototypes.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to optimize product performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, industrial designers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into overall product designs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot issues related to mechanical systems during development, testing, and production phases.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and enhance product competitiveness.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including reports, manuals, and engineering drawings, to support product manufacturing and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to source components, oversee fabrication, and monitor the progress of outsourced mechanical work.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for 2D and 3D modeling and simulation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software for structural and thermal analysis.
- Knowledge of materials selection, manufacturing processes, and cost analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Strong project management abilities, including the capability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information and project updates.
- Leadership qualities, including the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality engineering standards.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar relevant qualification.
- ECSA Registration as a Professional Engineer is a prerequisite requirement.
- Eight years experience as a mechanical design engineer in execution of turnkey projects or a similar field (Water, . Waste or Energy projects).
- Good understanding of CAD software packages, such as 3D Plant would be advantageous.
