Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Role
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development and execution of the client's mining projects in Central Africa.

The Responsibilities

Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from concept through execution for brownfield mining projects in Central Africa.
Provide expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, particularly those involving copper extraction and processing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including process engineers, civil engineers, and project managers to ensure project success.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost estimations for mechanical systems and equipment.
Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Oversee equipment procurement, vendor selection, and quality assurance.
Monitor project progress, budget, and schedules, and take corrective actions as needed.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and project team members.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.

The Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in mining projects.
Previous experience working for mining EPCMs.
Previous expat experience.
Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of successfully leading projects to completion.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Willingness to travel regularly to project sites in Central Africa.
