Job Description
The successful incumbent will provide Mechanical Engineering and Management Support as part of a team responsible for the Project Management of Vessel Maintenance & Capital Construction during Shutdown periods on-board DBM vessel as well as the clients fleet of vessels. In addition, it is a requirement to provide a technical support function while the fleet of vessels operate.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Formulates & Manages Generic Work Lists & Structure.
- Manages the acquisitions of all long lead items.
- Manages the Repair & Availability of all Rotable equipment.
- Co-ordinates all Works Lists, Revisions, Scopes of Work, Programs,
- Provides input to Tender & Contract award process.
- Places Requisitions and Controls Contracts within the area of responsibility.
- Controls & Co-ordinates all engineering activities during the InPort by Managing Contracting teams to ensure proper Maintenance, Replacements, Upgrades, Engineering Practices and Construction phases of a Shutdown Project for area of responsibility
- Red lines all drawings for update and plans and advises on all modifications carried out.
- Negotiates contract closure and Final Accounts.
- Co-ordinates the logistics of site establishments for Mobilisation & Demobilisation.
- Manages the SAP based In-Port budget within his area of responsibility.
- Manages Cost and Estimates within area of responsibility
- Maintains Shutdown Rotable Repairs System within the area of responsibility
- Compiles & Issues Scopes of Work, Specifications for On-Shore Maintenance of equipment.
- Provides support service in the form of Quality Control, Expediting, Engineering Support & Solutions for Project execution, equipment Repairs, Development Programs, Design Programs and on request Co-ordinates these functions
- Relevant Engineering / B Tech Engineering Degree or National Diploma(NQF6) with linked trade or Equivalent in Engineering Qualifications
- Min 5 years post qualification engineering experience, preferably in the one of the following areas:
- In marine engineering environment with a Marine Engineering ticket (preferred); or
- In ship repair engineering environment (ship repair structural, plate & pipe maintenance processes; or
- In marine mining and/or hydraulic environment; or
- In the mining & processing environment with experience in structural, plate & pipe maintenance processes
- Min 5 years managing a maintenance/project work team.
- Experience on work team/contractor project management. Contractor management an advantage
- Experience on work team/contractor budget control
- Experience on work team/contractor safety & health management an advantage
- Knowledge of offshore mining techniques would be advantageous.
- Strong Organizational skills.
- Strong People Management Skills.
- Develop Strong Auditable Contractor Relationships.
- Mechanical/Hydraulic Technical Background.
- Knowledge and experience of industrial repair work
- Computer literacy is essential (MS Suite)
