Job description
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the CEO, the purpose of this role is to manage the successful execution of the overall purchasing and planning function of the business. This position will be based in Durbanville.
Main accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing full end-to-end operational aspects of the buying and planning functions to ensure smooth product cycle.
- Responsible for the creation and management of the Buying calendar. Ensure that the annual calendar is planned in advance and deadlines are being monitored and met.
- Managing the financial key metrics set for the business. Ensuring KPIs are met: input monitoring, stock turns, GMROI and AOS.
- Management of the Purchasing Department staff to high levels of performance, ensuring that orders are placed, shipped and landed efficiently and timeously.
- Work collaboratively with the buying team to maximise sales, optimise inventory levels and grow profit.
- Monthly reporting to the CEO on key metrics/findings outlining suggestions and improvements.
- Determining and resolving all Purchasing Department supplier terms, administrative procedures, queries, and issues as well as importation compliance with SA Customs to ensure accreditation status maintained.
- Manage and maintain supplier performance and KPIs.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification in relevant field
- Strong experience with running the Buying function in retail environment
- Minimum 8 years relevant experience in senior role
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office & Purchasing systems experience
- Shipping & International supplier experience essential (local and imports)
- Previous project management exposure
- Change management experience required
- Drivers license and own transport
