The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for organizing, leading, and helping primarily execute strategic company responsibilities or projects. This PM will handle a broad and diverse range of responsibilities and assignments, reporting directly to the Head of PMO to support the Executive teams strategic objectives. This candidate will need to embrace attributes of adaptability and flexibility as the specific duties and responsibilities will evolve based on both the skills of the incumbent and the ever-changing environment of the business as it grows and scales. This role will require high levels of Change Management experience that will allow him/ her to plug into all areas of the business in order to effectively execute and deliver strategic projects, with a strong affinity to relationship building, collaborating and negotiating. Furthermore, business acumen is a necessity for the role, as well as the ability to engage Executives, Department Heads and the Board. The application of, and adherence to PMO methodology will be a requirement for every strategic project. As such, candidates with significant experience and knowledge of appropriate project management methodologies will have a competitive advantage.
Mukurus Project Management Office takes a hybrid project management approach, in which we apply both Waterfall and Agile methodologies. Our environment is fast-paced and requires a PM that can think on his/her toes and not be overwhelmed by pressure. Being able to communicate articulately and command a room (meeting) is a must!
Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Are Not Limited To)
- Compile the required project plans related to specific projects which includes the work breakdown structure
- Ensure the project plans include targets and measures, resource requirements and planned activities
- Assist with clarifying business requirements on projects to ensure that requirements are correctly documented and implemented
- Manage the projects in line with the specified project plan
- Provide guidance and direction to project team members during the project
- Coordinate the project teams activities
- Prioritize activities within projects
- Track the progress of all tasks related to the projects on a daily basis
- Identify any areas that are running behind schedule and address with the relevant stakeholder
- Identify where additional support or assistance may be required to ensure project timelines are met
- Ensure that the feedback tools are used by all stakeholders in order to identify problems proactively
- Liaise with external parties and coordinate external integration
- Provide frequent updates to the project stakeholders and PMO Manager & HOD with regard to progress
- Communicate information throughout the business on projects
- Hold feedback meetings as and when required
- Identify risks and issues that could impact the delivery of project outcomes
- Identify the corrective action when required
- Make adjustments to the project plan when required to ensure issues are addressed appropriately
- Obtain approval from the relevant stakeholders if the change requires change in project scope
- Resolve queries regarding project implementation
- Liaise with the project teams to identify the impact of queries on the project and actions required
- Provide support to the team to ensure project queries are resolved
- Provide weekly status reports on all projects KPI driven
- Report on issues encountered and completed activities
- Provide PMO Manager with monthly project reports
- Attend monthly performance meetings with the Head of PMO & PMO Manager
- Attend performance review meeting with PMO Manager
- Attend all required training courses
- Identify development areas in your role and work with you Department Heads on your Personal Development Plan
- Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
- PM or Agile Certification (PMP, PRINCE II, MPM, Scaled Agile etc.) (Essential)
- Bachelors degree in Economics, Business Administration, or related field (Essential); MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience working in Project Management/PMO, with high-level management experience preferred (Essential)
- Experience in executing and delivering strategic projects (Essential)
- Background in financial services (Beneficial)
- Knowledge of the application of project management methodologies and standards
- Firm grasp of fintech products and services and operational best practice
- A deep understanding of system integrations and fintech product enablement
- Knowledge of payments and remittances
- Able to exercise independent judgment and act on it
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
- Highly self-motivated and directed
- Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks while under pressure
- Strong customer service orientation
- Must be able to adapt quickly to change, be agile in approach, but thorough in execution
- Ability to communicate technical and complex concepts to stakeholders
