About You And This Role
As a Senior Sales Specialist at Dow Johannesburg, South Africa, you will be responsible for supporting account managers of small to medium size accounts for Dows Polyurethanes business. With your experience, youll also provide your support to large accounts and be accountable for non-selling processes and tasks inherent in the sales process including generating leads, outlining sales territories, managing sales analytics, fixing the technical problem of a customer, giving support on the phone to a customer, etc.
You will be accountable to maintain a high degree of knowledge on Polyurethane product lines along with understanding key markets in depth and acts as a resource to the business on competitive intelligence as well as maintain a consumption analysis on products purchased from polyurethane, Distributed Integrated System, and competition.
In line with our companys mission to become of the most customer-centric materials science company worldwide, your role will be key to foster customer satisfaction, deliver business results, develop forecasts on anticipated customer product consumption, and create and work within budget guidelines for region. You will be responsible for business strategy implementation within assigned region and develop a sales plan for assigned territory and provide needed data to Sales & Operating Teams to efficiently manage the business. As the companys goal is to continuously enhance our process, you will highly be involved in the continuous improvement in the area of overall productivity and efficiency along with effective management of sales terms and credit with assigned customers.
Responsibilities
- Achieve a high level of penetration at assigned customer base and to maintain strong relationships at all levels of customer organization
- Effectively utilize available tools such as strategic entertainment and management interface to build customer relationships in line with account plans and to develop strong multi-functional account teams to effectively interface with customers
- Utilize excellent sales skills to represent Dow to customers with effectively negotiate supply contracts and manage customer pricing strategically in line with business goals
- Deliver a high level of service to customers and effectively resolve any quality or service issues that arise
- Work with customers to define un-met needs and develop sales projects around commercial and developmental opportunities
- Enter and track opportunities using the CRM
- Successfully convert opportunities leading to sales growth
- Masters degree required, technical degree in Chemistry/Polymers or Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Fluency in English
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Execute against all job requirements while maintaining very high level of safety awareness.
- Bed knowledgeable on market trends within Consumer Solutions and other Dow businesses and have a deep understanding of Dows technology.
- Collaborate with sales related functions to build good teamwork.
- 5 years of technical sales or sales related experience
- Demonstrated experience managing existing business (negotiation, price management, issue resolution)
- Track record of hunting for and converting sales opportunities a plus
- Demonstrate high levels of motivation and deliver outstanding sales results
