The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for working with business stakeholders and the appointed delivery teams to establish and manage project initiatives to ensure that they all deliver the required outcome to meet the organisations business goals and objectives. This includes managing and coordinating the delivery of work executed by teams in accordance with the Scrum Master role in the Scaled Agile Framework.
Key Roles And Responsibilities
- Define project initiative scope, goals and deliverables and associated project success criteria that support business goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams and assigned development teams to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget and schedules for new project initiatives.
- Effectively communicate strategic guidance and programme expectations to product managers, release train engineers, product owners, team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Develop new project initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organisation.
- Direct and manage end to end project delivery including acting as a scrum master in accordance with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) approach.
- Clearly identify stakeholders and keep them updated and engaged on an ongoing basis.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members, other scrum masters, product managers and other stakeholders.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones, including full-scale project plans, using appropriate tools.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate team members.
- Track project milestones and deliverables.
- Assume responsibility for the agile team members and vendors.
- Manage teams for optimal return on investment, and coordinate and delegate cross-project initiatives.
- Resolve project scope issues.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the agile team.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Champion delivery success throughout the team and champion the early delivery of incremental benefits.
- Ensure deliverables from team will form an integrated business solution.
- Collaboratively identify and synchronize project interdependencies across multiple teams.
- Ensure the program benefits remain viable throughout the program, communicating status and date changes and actively manage dependencies.
- Assist product teams in making realistic commitments whilst communicating with business stakeholders.
- Navigate changes and risks that affect the programs.
- Facilitate effective resource allocation across the programs.
- Evangelize Scrum and Agile Development best practices throughout the company.
- Serve as a point of contact for geographically distributed teams.
- Prepare executive status reports for business stakeholders, participate in portfolio review meetings and run executive steering committee meetings.
- Help drive and improve the Program Management Office (PMO) processes.
- Drive continuous improvement of best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Minimum of 3 years Programme / Project Management experience with the delivery of large IT solutions of which at least 2 years must be as a Scrum Master using the SAFe methodology or similar agile methodology.
- Good understanding of agile delivery methodologies.
- Experience in managing the delivery of Business Transformation Programmes that utilise the following technologies:
- SAP S/4 specialising in the functional area of CPQ, BRIM and Record to Report
- SAP Ariba
- Outstanding leadership, facilitation and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks as delegated.
- Ability to drive multiple teams to deliver under tight timescales with finite resources.
- Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to step down to a team level in order to assist the team with delivery where required.

- Required Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 4 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
- SAFe Scrum Master certification.
