Role purpose:
To provide high level technical support, reporting, implementation and assurance for short term and long term strategy and network quality in the Transport network. Also manage and lead regional tx specialists with re to assurance, reporting, fault management and roll-out
Your responsibilities will include:
Act as team leader for the regional transmission team
Forecast network growth perform network optimisation for Transmission network.
To approve and advise the Transmission Specialists planners re network design and architecture.
To plan and manage high-level projects and implementations.
Identification, planning and implementation of new Transmission equipment for tech roll-out , new generation technologies and network expansion plans Thus manage higher order network entity planning and configuration
Liaison with TX Engineering , Project Management, Regional Property, Maintenance , Installation and Ops Support departments and external contractors and customers
Maintain reports on all tx Quality parameters (Latency, MW availability, Tunnel faults, congestion etc. )
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Technical / professional qualifications:
3 years National Diploma or Degree in Electrical (light current), Electronic or Computer Engineering or a SAQA accredited equivalent in a related field.
Transmission Technical Courses - any Transmission principles, SDH, GPS Network Synchronization, Optic Fibre Systems (Essential) tcp IP training,
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
At least 5-8 years relevant telecommunications experience
Good knowledge & experience in the Microwave, Fiber, Router, Synchronisation and Switches technologies specific to Tellabs/Coriant, SIAE, Radwin, Symmetricom, Nokia, and application.
Good knowledge and experience in ATOL uW, Map info planning tools and of GSM, UMTS and LTE and 5G technology and systems
TDM, ATM, PDH, SDH, C/W/DWDM, IP/MPLS, MEF, IP & TX architecture, IP & TX Protocols knowledge and application
Project Management and advanced Excel knowledge
IP Expert in Layer 1 to 4 of OSI stack and Standards in IEEE, ITU, MEF, Optical, RF
Analytical thinker & solution oriented Resilient planning, evaluating statistics and raw data towards required outputs in TX planning, support and reporting.
