Job Description
Strategy Formulation and Execution
- Help define and lead the banks strategy formulation program, collaborating on the emerging trends and technologies that could impact the banks business model and developing a strategic response to these that is aligned across the group and supported by horizon planning.
- Develop and implement a robust strategic planning process that aligns with the banks overall vision and goals and supports the achievement of Group-wide focus areas
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technology, Operations, Marketing, and Legal, to develop and implement strategic initiatives that respond to specific identified opportunities and threats.
- Leverage market insights, customer feedback, and competitor analysis to inform the development of strategies that enhance the banks competitive positioning and deliver sustainable growth. This includes an understanding of the profit pools and future country expansion options and growth opportunities.
- Align multi-functional strategies and objectives according to knowledge gained from reports and analysis.
- Influence the development of new practices that can be applied across the bank to achieve strategic plans and goals and enable knowledge sharing and integration of practice areas.
- Provide expert advice and support in terms of the operating model, strategy and value chain formulation and alignment across the group
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry experts, technology partners, and other external stakeholders to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies.
- Influence the development of new practices that can be applied across the bank to achieve strategic plans and goals and enable knowledge sharing and integration of practice areas.
- Undertake analysis of management and specialist information across the bank and develop high-level reports for strategic decision-making purposes.
- Communicate and report on strategy effectively to the banks senior management, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in.
- Provide group perspective and guidance on customer primacy definition, strategy and group-wide execution priorities.
- Drive change management activities across a single value chain to ensure optimal adoption for change.
- Influence and communicate across all levels of the business to minimise resistance to change and ensure on-boarding of target audiences.
- Scan the external environment, investigate alternative operating plans or models, and offer innovative advice to deliver a competitive advantage.
- Continuously scan the market and provide ongoing insights and applications to the Absa strategic context.
- Continue to ensure our strategy is future proof and responding the macro environment and competitor shifts.
- Work collaboratively with Group risk to oversee the Strategic Risks for the group
- Provide oversight and provide leaderships to the governance of the group strategy process in collaboration with businesses and functions
- Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Preferred)
- Has a strong strategic capability
- Has strong change management knowledge and experience
- Is Commercially aware
- Leads with Influence
- Has a strong reasoning capability
- 3 4 years Experience in a similar environment at senior specialist level
