Provide in depth support for Oracle databases and their interaction with the operating system and K8 product.
Provide technical escalation support and engineering for the wider business.
Accurately resolve issues using analytical and technical skills following the support department procedures.
Project a professional image at all times and build up and develop good relationships with both customers and other internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- K8 system installs including K8, the Database and Operating System
- K8 Technical Project tasks
- Work across diverse business areas to deliver solutions for new products including customer system architecture design
- Assist in queue management and prioritisation for the ETS department
- Manage, prioritise and progress adopted calls, in particular:
- Effectively and promptly resolving calls, ensuring old calls are kept to a minimum
- Accurately investigating, identifying and rectifying both the causes and the symptoms of problems
- Providing work-arounds to minimise the impact of problems when this is appropriate
- Implementing solutions to the customers best advantage and ensuring the call resolutions meet the working and business practices of the customer
- Escalating calls and seeking advice when appropriate
- Efficiently resolve issues relating to the Oracle database and the underlying operating system
- Copy Live Databases to Test systems
- Identify and develop scripts relating to KCS products and the operating system
- Patch and Upgrade Oracle databases
- Provide an efficient high quality Support service in accordance with the Service Level Agreement
- Work with KCS Oracle Partners to communicate and resolve issues
- Develop tools, processes, and capability to enable KCS to provide a more efficient service to the customers
- Follow and apply the standard Procedures and Practices
- Improve relationships with customers, and when necessary act as a key contact
- Effectively handle complaints and call escalation requests from customers
- Undertaking any other projects as required by their Manager or Director
Key Requirements:
- AS, A level or HND in Computer Science, similar or higher qualification
- Experience of working with Linux/Unix based operating systems
- Experience in a customer-focused role in a service oriented environment
- Ability to maintain a professional standard of communication at all levels
- Ability to organise and manage own workload efficiently
- Ability to investigate unfamiliar problems and generate effective solutions in a systematic and logical manner
- Proven experience of managing an Oracle Database, including database design, installation and troubleshooting
- Oracle Certified Professional Database Administration status in 12c or 19c
- Linux Certification
