Qualifications
Must have a minimum of a B Sc. or B Eng. degree in Civil Engineering. A Post-Graduate Degree would be highly beneficial. Must be a Professionally Registered Engineer (Pr Eng.).
Experience
• Must have a minimum of 25 years relevant years’ post-graduation experience in a consulting engineering environment including water engineering design, and contract documentation,
• Must be experienced in managing, teaching and mentoring junior staff,
• Must be competent in AutoCad, Civil Designer, MS Office and MS Project. A good working knowledge of Surge Analysis software, Hytran would be an advantage.
• Must have a sound working knowledge of GCC 2010, NEC and FIDIC conditions of contract.
• Must also have a good working knowledge of CIDB procedures and practices.
• Have good communication skills and ability to work under pressure
Duties;
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the undertaking of design and design reviews of predominantly water related work. Other key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
• Compilation of tender documentation in CIDB format and World Bank format
• Mentorship of junior technical staff in terms of design & engineering practices
• Management of technical team
• Keeping up to date with software and design tools to assist with design
A valid driver’s licence is essential. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, be prepared to work in the field and must have good communication skills. Must be able to supply traceable and contactable references.
