A career opportunity has arisen in the Technical Bakery Department Premier FMCG Waterfall. This position is responsible to diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair generator and alternator systems, both mechanically and electrically.
Qualification Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience working with generator sets, with expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge and experience in fault finding and servicing of generators and alternators.
- Proficiency in diesel mechanics and electrical systems related to generators and alternators.
- Experience with load testing and performance verification.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and electrical schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant certifications or trade qualifications in generator maintenance, diesel mechanics, and electrical systems are preferred.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience specifically in generator sets and alternators.
- Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing both mechanical and electrical issues.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Availability to travel to our sites located within South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Mozambique.
- Flexibility to be on standby and respond to breakdowns outside of regular service schedules.
- Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance of generator sets.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot generator and alternator issues, both mechanical and electrical, with a synergy between diesel mechanic and electrician skills.
- Repair and replace generator and alternator parts as needed.
- Perform load testing and verify generator and alternator performance.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with other technicians, Maintenance Managers, and departments to coordinate generator-related activities.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Train and mentor.
- Be on standby and available to assist with breakdowns apart from the normal planned service schedules.
