nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Technician Facilities Construction specializing in Telecommunications to oversee the construction, installation, and implementation of telecommunications facility infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with health, safety, and technical standards throughout construction projects
.Key Responsibilitie
- sHealth & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all Health & Safety regulations are followed on-site, working with the Health & Safety representative to mitigate risks and escalate issues when necessary
- .Supervision & Control: Oversee the construction of telecommunications facilities, including high sites and structured cabling installations. Ensure compliance with laws, standards, and technical specifications
- .Telecoms Facility Management: Supervise the implementation of inside plant infrastructure, such as switching centers, data centers, and high site construction
- .Infrastructure Planning: Scrutinize plans and specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, while coordinating with other service providers and managing wayleaves, permits, and work programs
- .Resource Management: Manage project resources and ensure all infrastructure is aligned with the Citys and Telecoms policies and procedures
- .Documentation & Records: Ensure accurate submission of new infrastructure information to planning departments for updating network inventory databases
- .Environmental Compliance: Work with environmental and land use consultants to ensure compliance with zoning, building permits, and wayleave applications
- .Networking: Collaborate with third-party contractors, town planners, and other consultants to ensure successful project execution
sQualifications
- :3-year tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field
- .At least 8-10 years of telecommunications industry experience, with 5 years as a resident engineer or technical lead in telecommunications facility infrastructure construction
- .Valid driver's license and availability for 24/7 duty when required
- .Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
- eExtensive experience in telecommunications infrastructure construction and implementation
- .Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, environmental compliance, and relevant legislation
- .Ability to perform site surveys, prepare construction drawings, and manage the implementation of telecom facilities
- .Strong technical expertise in inside plant planning (AC/DC power distribution, air conditioning, UPS, access control, CCTV)
- .Experience with wayleaves, permitting processes, and telecoms facility construction
