SENIOR THEATRE MANAGER

Responsibilities

To provide intellectual, conceptual and practical leadership in technical theatre and venue services through the following approaches:

• Technical and logistic support for internal and external events
• Venue bookings and administration
• Professional communication with clients and stakeholders
• Statutory Compliance and Occupational Health and Safety and Security
• Human Resource Management
• Asset maintenance and management
• Finance Management and Administration

Minimum Requirements

• Three-year National Diploma or Grade 12
• Valid Drivers license
• Three years (with National Diploma) experience in theatre management; theatre sound and lighting and technical experience OR five years (with Grade 12) experience in theatre management; theatre sound and lighting and technical experience.

• Venue management and operational acumen
• Computer literacy
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with others in order to encourage and support communication and teamwork.
• Ability to accomplish tasks and processes accurately and completely.
• Ability to identify problems, determine possible solutions, and actively work to resolve the issues.
• Ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
• Skill and ability in coordinating, facilitating, and participating in a collaborative approach to the completion of tasks or assignments.
• Knowledge of sound and lighting and other theatre equipment
• Stage set-up including rigs and gell
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and requirements
• Physical ability to perform tasks

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbents level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
