Carney Construction has an opening for a Setting Out Engineer / Processes Manager.
Carney is a fast paced RC contractor with sub-divisions in groundworks and scaffolding. This position is a new position opening due to increased demand for our services with a high likelihood for advancement on successful completion of the project.
The successful candidate will be overseeing several small or one significant RC and groundworks package within the South East Region. The abilities and responsibilities for the successful candidate will need to be as follows:
- Be involved in initial pre-start and feasibility meetings for RC projects
- Prepare/Review methodologies for construction activities throughout JCC packages
- Understand and develop contract knowledge for JCC liabilities/responsibilities
- Collate and manage site drawings for site construction teams
- To review site drawings and highlight feasibility problems in a timely manor
- Comfortable with a range of site setting out equipment including Leica/Nikon/Topcon EDM’s alongside standard dumpy & laser levels.
- Be able to use AutoCAD for basic site related operations (taking co-ordinates and completing as built drawings)
- Consulting with designers in house / externally if program requires to produce and manage temporary works designs for formwork and earthwork stabilisations.
- Be conscious of site safety requirements and take a share of responsibility for site H&S paperwork (assisting General Foreman).
- Hold valid CSCS cards
- Hold a Degree in Engineering/Construction Management
- Have worked on sites for minimum of 3 years previously in a setting out role similar
- Hold a valid driving license and be able to drive reasonable distances within the working day.
Preferred extra attributes you will either have or can be trained in while completing the role
- Complete Daily Briefings to site staff where required
- Complete Safety reviews on-site and implement best practise above legislation where possible
- Modify designs to better suit constructability & profitability of projects.
- Knowledge of costings for materials and skills required in the marketplace
- Managing construction teams to be optimal in size and skill sets to keep projects profitable
- Developing systems to increase productivity throughout H&S, Commercial, Professional Relations & Human Relations.
This position will be based from Reading but roles may require further commute if required, expenses will be compensated, and above market package available to the correct applicant. Package dependent on applicant and experience offered ranging from £40k - £50k in additional car may be provided if site requirements are such.
