Reporting to the SHE Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement systems, programs, and risk control measurements.
- Monitor the implementation of Safe Work Procedures and maintain and update all relevant SHEQ department administrative duties.
- Develop and maintain an inspection and evaluation program for workspace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with SHE standards and regulations.
- Advise project team on the application and interpretation of policies, rules, and regulations of shareholder and legislator requirements.
- Facilitate the investigation of incidents to identify root causes and determine how much incidents may be prevented in future.
- Communicate risk control information by analyzing data, developing leading indicators, producing, and presenting required reports and advising management accordingly.
- Maintain and improve policies and systems related to safety- all designed to create a culture of continuous improvement.
- Implement emergency and crisis management plans.
- Act as an emergency coordinator on site.
- Provide Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) training, awareness, and induction on site to staff, contractors, and other relevant parties.
- Compile weekly site HSE reports.
- Keep HSE registers up to date, including renewals of permits, licenses, etc.
- Administer and maintain non-conformance and suggestion systems, including Corrective and Preventative Action Request (CPAR), Non-conformance Report (NCR) and Field Performance Report (FPR) systems.
- Grade 12/ Matric.
- NQF 6 Diploma in Safety Management.
- 4 years operational experience in SHE
- Advanced knowledge in OHS Act and Regulations.
- Registration with a relevant professional body such as SACPCMP or SAIOSH
- Advanced Computer Skills (MS Power point, Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint and Projects)
- Proven First Aid, Incident Investigations, Fall Protection Plan Development & Fire safety knowledge.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong Communication Skills.
