Shift Electrician – Mining

Mine based outside of Middelburg is seeking to employ an experienced and suitably qualified Shift Electrician to join their ever growing team

This is a permanent position

Process

• Conduct preventative electrical maintenance through scheduled

inspections, servicing, adjustments, troubleshooting, and timely

repair of plant equipment

• Prepare electrical materials and equipment for projects, such as

cutting metal or fabricating wire or cable

• Install electrical equipment such as transformers, generators, and

switch gear

• Provide reliable and accurate electrical maintenance advice and

expertise to minimise plant production down time

• Analyse electrical loads to determine the need for additional wiring

capacity

• Install electrical systems used in mining operations such as

lighting and ventilation systems

• Review blueprints and drawings to determine electrical

requirements for project implementation

• Maintain accurate record keeping per completed job card
• Monitor and inspect opencut electrical equipment and fixed plant

electrical systems in line with statutory requirements

• Diagnosing faults and effect repairs to electrical equipment and

field devices

• Test and tag electrical equipment
• Ensure electrical isolations as per the site breakdown safety

procedures

Finance

Reduce cost and waste

• Ensure minimal production breaks by logging electrical

breakdowns timeously so as to effect an adequate response

Knowledge And Skills

Minimum skills required

Minimum Qualification Preferred Qualification

Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification with

Mathematics and Physical Science.

Trade Test Certificate: Electrician (Section 13/ 26D)
