What you can expect
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the shift Production Department and coordinating its interaction with other departments to achieve customer, company requirements with respect to productivity, QHE&S, delivery and cost. Duties will include the following:
Ensuring departmental objectives are set and cascaded to the entire production shift
Ensuring the effective utilization of all resources in the production shift
Reviewing progress against the daily production plan and implementing contingencies, where necessary to achieve operational targets
Ensuring that objectives and targets are measured and tracked to determine the trends
Ensuring that employees are motivated to achieve operational targets
Identifying and actioning employee development and training needs
Providing training to all relevant employees on improved or newly developed work instructions to ensure compliance to standards
Ensuring that departmental Quality and Safety standards are adhered to, maintained and improved continuously throughout the plant
Managing systems applicable to the production area including SAP transactions, Stock accuracy, AIMS, Compliant Pro, TPM, AE.net and Power-Bi, LCO, and PLT submission
Creating and maintaining an environment which fosters continuous improvement in key focus areas using best practice and lean principles
Initiating investigations of process and operational deviations, engaging expertise and staff, using various problem-solving techniques, reviewing data and making prompt decisions to correct any such deviations
Ensuring that the maintenance plans and repairs are conducted to an acceptable standard during a shift
Working according to Integrated (Environmental and Quality) Management System requirements
Ensuring that the final production schedule for all production lines, both Slurry Prep and Coating is available
Managing the off-line and other off-line related activities during a shift
What we expect
Minimum of 6 years experience in a production/manufacturing environment in the Automotive industry
3 year Production Management or Technical tertiary qualification, and preferably a post-graduate qualification
Experience in a leadership role is required and managing a production business unit operating on a continuous shift basis is advantageous
