The Site Manager role is the highest Nordexs authority on-site.
- Ensure that all project on-site activities comply with general Nordex QHSE regulations and specific QHSE regulations for construction sites.
- Manage construction activities to meet the deadline, cost, quality, safety and environmental requirements (until the completion of the run test phase)
- Manage the relationship with the customer at the site level in alignment with the Project Manager (PM).
- Ensure compliance on the execution of customer and subcontractors contracts and other relevant stakeholders (i.e. project basis).
- Contract and relationship management with subcontractors, suppliers and service providers, delivering their scope of work on site.
- Coordinate the team on-site to deliver the scope of work.
- Manage site-related activities during the execution readiness process.
- Report internally according to the Governance plan.
HSE
- Construction Regulation 8.1 appointment
- Review and check the RAMS, and approve/sign when applicable
- Manage the site related activities during the project preparation phase as defined in the Execution Readiness process, such as:
- roads, laydowns areas, crane assembly areas and cranes hard standings
- revision and inspection, installation strategy
- contracts negotiation with sourcing
- Ensure the availability and readiness of the project documentation such as installation instructions, tooling handling documents
- General Drawings, technical annexes to be included in the contracts, site establishment, etc.
- Monitor and ensure the update of the Execution project schedule.
- Identify problems and propose/consult to obtain relevant solutions.
- Provide a weekly update on the Project Operational Plan.
- Manage Suppliers / Subcontractors on-site and the interfaces between them (Cranes, manpower, final run, BOP, and other minor suppliers/subcontractors).
- Subcontractors and relationship management.
- Ensure creation of purchase requisitions for on-site, budget compliance, and market-related prices activate the correspondent cost process (forecast forum) in alignment with the Site Controller when applicable
- Ensure that the logistics plan and the material management is aligned with the execution phase planning
- Ensure recording of the missing parts and replacement POs in the ERP
- Ensure execution of the reverse logistics timely
- Ensure proper recording and compliance of any scrapping
- Review and check BOP works and documents, in line with Nordex specifications e.g., earthing protocol, test protocol crane hardstanding, foundation protocol.
- Coordinate with the site team to deliver the scope of work in alignment with the PMEPC GLF. Responsible for providing and allocating different resources on the site such as Quality, Commissioning, Logistics & MM, Supervision team.
- Monitor, control, and validate the cost associated with the construction process compared to the budget (Cranes, manpower, final run, and other subcontractors and Nordex personnel cost)
- Provide reporting updates in the project forecast forum. (The work is delegated to the Site Controller)
- Approve purchase requisitions for on-site purchases as site cost owner and action the related cost process (cost code) (forecast forum) in alignment with the Site Controller when applicable
- Sign all invoices applicable from the payment certificates from contractors
- Check applicable Technical and Service Notifications (plan materials and timing), clarify queries if any, with Project Team and Technical PMs and implement these plans when applicable in PM phase and report accordingly in Upvise.
- Manage, accept /refuse and sign off daily, the claims from subcontractors based on the contract rules and provide reporting updates in the project Forecast Forum. E.g., Like delay report, materials damages
- Monitor the use of internal systems to control, monitor and report as required (to internal or external/customers) the main KPIs of his/her responsibilities (e.g., Upvise, Primavera, ServiceNow, ERP, and ad hoc systems for different purposes).
- Ensure Governance implementation and Document save in the right folders
- Communicate timeously to the team as per the project schedule status, the turbine readiness for Q-Gate23 (turbine readiness for Commissioning).
- Plan and follow up the commissioning activities
- Identify, quantify and manage on-site risks and opportunities (operational and financial) and provide reporting updates in the project Forecast Forum. (Delegated to the Site Controller)
- Accompanies PM to Service hand over process (document collection and provision as well as support for remaining punches)
- Conduct handover meeting to customer
- Apply Signature of Certificates (CAP, TOC)
- Coordinate the Monthly Lessons learned meetings

- Leadership skills, ability to build a proactive, focused team, integrating members drawn from various support departments, such as erection supervisors and commissioning engineers, and local service engineers.
- Ability to work with different business cultures
- Bachelors Degree, B-Tech Degree or National Diploma in Engineering or related discipline. Other degrees will be considered providing extensive experience in the wind industry (5 to 7 years)
- ECSA, PMI or SACPCMP registration required
- 3 - 5 years experience in site management
- Demonstrated ability to successfully complete large-scale projects, managing multidisciplinary teams
- Commercial and contract management experience. If involved in disputes, litigation and arbitration is a plus.
